January 2026

Thursday 1st

Give thanks for all that God enabled us to achieve in 2025.

Friday 2nd

Some sponsors and loved ones of EVC Trustees passed away in 2025. Give thanks for their lives and pray that they may know the eternal rest God gives.

Saturday 3rd

Elections will take place in Uganda on 15th January. Pray that these will be peaceful and no harm will be caused to anyone standing for election at this time.

Sunday 4th

Pray for Uganda to remain stable and safe during and after this time.

Monday 5th

As papers are marked from the children who sat Primary 7 leaving exams in November last year, pray for good results and that each one will be able to join either secondary or vocational schools.

Tuesday 6th

Give thanks for the many church appeals Ted has already secured for 2026 and continue to pray for him as he works on gaining more openings to speak, so that there is a full programme for the year.

Wednesday 7th

Many children are moving to new levels of education this year. Pray that parents and children will choose the schools they move to wisely and, once the exam results have been received, listen to the advice given by EVC staff and Father Boniface, as to the best way forward.

Thursday 8th

Continue to give thanks for the volunteers who have had a busy time during 2025, administering the Gift Register and childrens letters and submitting claims for Gift Aid.

Friday 9th

The Christmas school holidays in Uganda are very long. Pray that all our sponsored children will look forward to returning to school for Term 1 and that no-one will fail to come back. Private schools will return in the last week of January and government schools in the first week of February .

Saturday 10th

Many of the EVC parents are trying to save money for their childrens education through the SACCO groups EVC has been administering. Pray that every parent will have sufficient funds for their childrens school needs and also for any top-up fees needed for those in more expensive schools.

Sunday 11th

Continue to pray that all parents and their children will value education and see the benefits for their future lives.

Monday 12th

A number of EVC children completed their education in 2025. Pray that God will provide the right job for each one and that they will earn sufficient funds to provide for their needs.

Tuesday 13th

Continue to give thanks for all those who sponsor children through EVC Uganda, for their faithfulness in giving and their concern for each of the children they help.

Wednesday 14th

As a new rota of church appeals will begin soon, pray for those who will speak and that God will cause many people to be willing to sponsor a child in school.

Thursday 15th

Today the people of Uganda are voting in their general election. Pray for a good outcome from this vote and that the day will pass peacefully.

Friday 16th

During this long holiday pray for rest and refreshment for each member of staff.

Saturday 17th

Pray for the headteachers in the schools as they plan for the year ahead.

Sunday 18th

Pray for Judi as she puts a power point presentation together to use with children in school later this month.

Monday 19th

Pray that God will provide new people during 2026 who will be willing to help with the speaking at church appeals.

Tuesday 20th

Work on the new dining room and kitchen at St Matia Mulumba is progressing well. Pray that it will not be hindered by bad weather and that the builders will be able to work to schedule.

Wednesday 21st

Work is also taking place on the new Nursery, with the installation of water harvesting facilities and completion of a toilet block. Pray that this work will be done to a high standard and completed on time.

Thursday 22nd

Give thanks for Father Boniface and Father Michael, for the help and support they give to EVC staff in the midst of very busy schedules.

Friday 23rd

Janet has now left employment with EVC Uganda and a new member of staff is being sought. Pray that the right person will be found who will be committed to the work and fit well within the staff team.

Saturday 24th

Since EVC Uganda was formed in 2014, the work has grown substantially. Pray for all Trustees that during 2026 they will rely on the Lord for stamina and capacity to carry out the work.

Sunday 25th

Continue to pray for all support staff in the schools - matrons, admin staff, cooks, security guards and night watchmen, that they will feel very much a part of the school team.

Monday 26th

Pray for all teachers to have a creative approach to the subjects they teach so that all children will enjoy lessons and learn well.

Tuesday 27th

Give thanks for the EVC staff and pray that there will be an excellent team spirit within the group.

Wednesday 28th

Pray for Gonzaga as she leads the team, for wisdom and for an ability to plan wisely.

Thursday 29th

Pray for Judi as she speaks  about EVCs work to the children in Laleham Lea School in Purley and give thanks that they will be raising funds for us

Friday 30th

Prossy has a big responsibility overseeing the building work at St Matia Mulumba. Pray that her reliance for all the tasks involved will be on the Lord.

Saturday 31st

Give thanks that St Matia Mulumba is now connected to the local water supply and pray that progress will be made on whether it is possible to also sink a well close to the school. Pray for Headteacher Joseph as he looks into the possibilities.
