May 2026

‘I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good’. Psalm 52 : 8b & 9

Friday 1st

School children in Uganda are now on holiday for the next three weeks. Pray that they will be protected during this time.

Saturday 2nd

The EVC Board of Trustees meets today. Please pray for this time and for any decisions which need to be made, that God’s guidance will be evident.

Sunday 3rd

Pray also that during these school holidays, each family would have sufficient food to feed their children and that they will remain healthy while at home.

Monday 4th

One of our patrons, Roger, who broke his femur in Uganda last year, has had to have a second operation as he was still experiencing pain when walking. Pray that this time it will be successful and that he will make good progress in getting back to walking normally.

Tuesday 5th

The cost of many things such as petrol and food has risen a great deal recently. Pray for our families that they will be able to raise the funds needed for scholastic supplies for their children during Term 2.

Wednesday 6th

During this past term there has been a lot of illness among the children and adults, as there has been much rain and it has been very cold. Pray that the right medication will be available for each one and that those who are ill will quickly recover.

Thursday 7th

Father Michael has been suffering with malaria recently. Pray he will return to full health and strength again.

Friday 8th

EVC Uganda needs to register as a NGO in Uganda. Pray for all the details involved in this and for Gonzaga as she coordinates all that needs to be done.

Saturday 9th

Pray for her too, and Father Boniface, as they work on establishing any tax liabilities for the EVC staff and the organisation. Pray that this will be resolved in good time before the end of June.

Sunday 10th

Pray for all the students for whom this is the last year in Primary 7, Senior 4 or vocational school. Pray they will understand the subject material being covered and will retain this information ready for the exams they will sit towards the end of this year.

Monday 11th

Pray that all our children who are away on school holidays will be a big help to their parents and guardians during this time.

Tuesday 12th

Travel in Uganda is often dangerous. Pray that all teaching and non teaching staff in the schools will be kept safe during this holiday.

Wednesday 13th

Pray for any of the teaching staff seeking to upgrade their qualifications during this holiday. The government in Uganda has stated that all teachers need to upgrade to degree level within the next few years.

Thursday 14th

As the new term will begin soon, pray that all teachers will return to their teaching jobs and be well motivated in the job they do.

Friday 15th

Pray for the head teachers planning for the new term, that they will be guided by God and know the priorities for the coming weeks.

Saturday 16th

Pray for our EVC staff, that each one will know God’s protection and will rely on him for strength and energy in their busy jobs.

Sunday 17th

Pray for Gonzaga as she leads the staff team.

Monday 18th

Monica is a new member of staff in Uganda. Pray for her as she learns what is involved in her job and give thanks for her interest and motivation.

Tuesday 19th

EVC in the UK is looking for a volunteer Head of Major Donor Fundraising and three other volunteers to be fundraisers on the Major Donor Fundraising team. Pray that as these posts are advertised the right people will be found.

Wednesday 20th

Continue to pray for Father Boniface and Father Michael who have busy schedules and give thanks for all the support and guidance they give to our staff team.

Thursday 21st

Pray for our staff team to work well together and that they will always be ready to help one another if and when the need arises

Friday 22nd

Give thanks for all the support staff in our schools and pray they will feel very much part of the schools they work in.

Saturday 23rd

Building work on the kitchen and dining room at St Matia Mulumba is going well. Pray that progress will not be hindered by bad weather and that they will be able to work to schedule.

Sunday 24th

Pray for immaculate as she works with the SACCO groups, that she will be able to motivate parents to save and that new parents will join the groups.

Monday 25th

Prossy, our project manager will be on maternity leave from today. Pray for a safe delivery for her and for Gonzaga as she covers her responsibilities during the time she will be away.

Tuesday 26th

Pray for the new EVC children joining school this term. Pray they will settle well and make firm friendships.

Wednesday 27th

As EVC looks to the next ten years, pray that the right priorities will be set for this time.

Thursday 28th

Continue to thank God for all those volunteering with us, for the time they give and the jobs they do.

Friday 29th

Currently a bill is being discussed in the Ugandan parliament regarding funds arriving from abroad. The government wishes to control these funds and limit the amounts organisations receive per year. Many are opposed to this. Please pray that this bill will not succeed as this will affect EVC’s ability to carry on their work, together with  many other organisations.

Saturday 30th

This weekend Ted and Judi are speaking about EVC’s work at Our Lady Help of Christians and St Lawrence in Olney. Pray for this time, for Judi as she speaks and that parishioners will give generously to our work.

Sunday 31st

In this time of rising cost, pray that there will continue to be people willing to sponsor children in education.
