EVC Uganda Variety Performance Evening 2015

December 2015

A fantastic and culturally diverse evening of music showcasing very professional performers took place in St Joseph’s Church, Midland Road, Bedford on 6th June 2015 to raise funds for EVC Uganda.

There was a tremendous turnout for a Saturday evening in Bedford and all seats in the church were taken up.

The evening was compèred by Rebecca Lland and Ryan de Souza, two of our volunteers who carried out introductions and provided light entertainment between acts.

The evening started off with lights down and the showing of our EVC Uganda video.

The ever popular AMDG music group performed a song brought back from Uganda

There were joyous and lively renditions from The Christ the King Gospel Choir

Sheela Masih and friends performed mesmerising Indian folk music

Beautiful songs from Simona Verdura and a dramatic poem from her sister Veronica.

Contemporary and melodic songs from Mia Fox and Rebecca Lland

Popular classical numbers from Katherine Peddie

The evening was closed by a varied and professional performance from the extremely talented and versatile Armitage family.

During the evening Judi Fawcett, our Secretary, gave a thought provoking and detailed account of conditions in Masaka and the need for donations and sponsorships.

Needless to say, no evening would be complete without a raffle!!!

Overall we raised £1125.97 from ticket sales and the raffle. In addition we recruited 4 new sponsors on the evening with others expressing interest. This gave a total of £2085.97 funds raised.

From feedback we know that the audience left extremely happy and “wanting more” and we had comments on the way out such as “I didn’t know Bedford had such talent” and “Tell us when the next concert is and we will definitely come?”

Yes, we will definitely do another concert next year. It was a fun thing to do, it was enjoyable and very profitable. Fundraising at its best!

How can you help?

It costs £300 to sponsor a child ( £25 monthly standing order ) This provides a child with an education, accommodation, clothing and food and pays teaching and non teaching staff. You can also donate securely through KindLink.
