Raising funds to support the work is a key part of our remit within the UK

The following are the major areas in which funding is required:
 
  • Child sponsorship £240 annually (£20 monthly standing order)
  • Classroom block for St Matia Mulumba Primary School to accommodate vocational and IT training
  • Classroom block for St Kizito Primary School to reduce class sizes and accommodate vocational training
  • Boys' dormitory, latrines and showers for St Matia Mulumba Primary School
  • Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities for St Matia Mulumba Primary School to reduce sickness and improve children's health

May 2019 - Yoga Classes with Irene Daz

Every month, Irene Daz teaches yoga classes with a live pianist, raising money for different NGO charities. This month she chose to raise funds for EVC Uganda and we are so grateful to her and all that participated in her class, donating to our cause. She collected a total of 80€ for our projects in Uganda.

2018 Church Appeals

2018 Church Appeals

Including Gift Aid, the Church Appeals’ Programme during 2018 brought in a total of £23,000. As a result of these appeals, a further 45 children gained access to sponsored education. Ted and Judi have built up very good relationships with the clergy in many areas and have spread the word about EVC far beyond Bedford where the charity originated.

December 2018 - Carolling at Morrisons

Morrisons Supermarket of Ampthill Road, Bedford welcomed us back to raise our voices in song. £209.49 was counted from the collection buckets and our carolling raised plenty of awareness for EVC!

September 2018 - Variety Performance

Thanksgiving was the theme of the show, and we are extremely thankful for its success. £905.10 was raised through admission and raffle ticket sales, and the figure was increased to £1,815.10 through a 'match funding' scheme. Several sponsors for children were also found through this event.

December 2017 - Carolling at Morrisons

A group of EVC volunteers got together with friends from St Joseph’s and Christ the King parishes of Bedford. They sang carols and other favourite Christmas songs for two hours, raising a fantastic sum of £161.92. Thank you to Morrisons supermarket for being so accommodating!

September 2017 - Variety Performance

An evening of music, talent and performance in aid of raising funds for our school dormitory project. A total of £1,025.40 was raised in the sale of concert tickets, raffle tickets, EVC 2018 calendars and rosaries made by the children in Uganda.

Our Chairman, Ted Fawcett, carried out 11 days of ‘house to house’ collection in the streets of Bedford. Over £1,000 was raised, which will be used to sponsor two children in their education.

During March and on the first weekend in April, Judi and Ted Fawcett made a number of Church appeals. The figures raised are as follows:

EVC received a fantastic welcome from Fr Chris Hughes and the parishioners of St Cuthbert's and St Joseph's churches in North Shields. Trustee Rebecca Lland gave an impassioned appeal at three Masses and there was a tremendous amount of interest in the work of our charity.

£597.68 was raised to go towards the dormitory project in Kyancoole.

Viv Barrow, who sponsors a child, and Roisin Stanley, a Newcastle University student, walked 97 miles over 6 days from Holy Island to Heavensfield (St Oswald's Way) raising money for the dormitory project at St Matia Mulumba, Kyancoole. We are touched to be their charity of choice!

13 March 2016 — Bath Half Marathon

Millie Crowe, Ambassador to Bede House Catholic Chaplaincy in Newcastle, completed the Bath half marathon (in 2 hours 14 minutes!) in aid of EVC Uganda. She raised £215 for the School Dormitory Project in St Matia Mulumba School, Kyancoole. A huge thank you to Millie and her efforts!

It costs £240 to sponsor a child ( £20 monthly standing order ) This provides a child with an education, accommodation, clothing and food and pays teaching and non teaching staff. You can also donate securely through BT Giving.
